Meet Britt Masters Watercolorist

Art has always been my way of communicating what  words cannot. I am drawn to the luminosity and fluidity of watercolor, which mirrors life’s fleeting beauty and wonder. Each brushstroke celebrates light and a connection to the world around me. Each painting calls attention to the magic in this moment.

My work explores the balance between realism and abstraction, uncovering beauty in landscapes, wildlife, and the human form, with a special focus on water in all its forms. 

I see art as storytelling—a bridge between what is seen and felt. My watercolor paintings honor wild, untouched places, revering their beauty while urging preservation. My figurative pieces embrace vulnerability, challenge societal norms, and invite empathy, reminding us of our shared humanity. I want to remind you that we as humans have a place as a part of nature, not something separate.

The creative process is both discipline and surrender. I plan meticulously but trust watercolor’s unpredictable nature to guide the final work. The journey often feels chaotic, yet the result is a moment of clarity, a vision of wonder, a story brought to life. Art is my calling, a way of existing in the world that connects and inspires. Painting for me fosters connection—to nature, to one another, and to ourselves—reminding us of the beauty and responsibility we all share.

Watercolor is my voice—equal parts boldness and softness, fluid yet precise: complexities somehow harmoniously coexisting. 

I am always tickled by the frequent comment about my work: "THIS is watercolor?!" Many people are unaware of the bold vibrance that watercolor offers. Its transparency allows light to shine, creating a dance between control and surrender. 

This medium’s unpredictability challenges and thrills me, reflecting life’s paradoxes and complex spectrums of experience as opposed to polarities. 

Through watercolor, I hope to provoke in every viewer a response to breathtaking beauty, and with it a call to action--to preserve our natural and wild spaces. A portion of proceeds from my work go towards conservation efforts. 

I hope to elevate watercolor’s status in the art world, amplifying its potential to tell stories with depth, nuance, and great passion.
