Watercolor is as much about learning to see as it is learning to paint.
Through private and small-group instruction, I help artists develop both the technical foundations of watercolor and the confidence to move beyond them—exploring color, light, atmosphere, water, and the beautiful unpredictability that makes the medium so captivating.
Lessons are tailored to your experience and interests, whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or looking to loosen your work, strengthen your technique, and develop a more distinctive artistic voice.
Lessons are offered in person at Studio Aqua, my private art studio in the greater Chicago area, or virtually from wherever you are. Private and small-group experiences can be arranged, allowing each lesson to feel personal, relaxed, and responsive to the way you want to grow as an artist.

Drawing

Through approachable, individualized instruction, we’ll explore the foundations of drawing—including proportion, perspective, value, composition, and observation—while developing the confidence to translate what you see onto the page.
Whether you’re beginning for the first time or strengthening an existing practice, lessons are designed to build both technical skill and your own way of seeing.

Painting lessons combine strong technical foundations with room for experimentation, intuition, and play. Together, we can explore color mixing, value, composition, brushwork, edges, atmosphere, and the unique possibilities of your chosen medium.
Beyond technique, the goal is to help you become a more confident, expressive painter—one who knows the rules, but also knows when to let something unexpected happen.
